Like the man lost in the desert who suddenly locates water—like the starving prisoner who is freed and offered food—I drank and ate and drank the Word, the Word, the Word! And just like He said, I got so full that rivers of this living water started flowing out of my inner being.
If someone throws a lemon at you, make lemonade rather than throw it back. If another hurls mud your way, don’t try to rub it off. You’ll only make it worse. Just love the Lord, allow no bitterness in your heart, let the mud dry, and shake it off.
Even when Israel was playing the harlot, her Almighty Husband yet reached out in love. And how many times have we, as Messiah’s bride, wounded Him through our spiritual adulteries with the world, only to find Him willing to take us back into His arms of love?
Let Jesus awaken you morning by morning and offer Him your spiritual ears to hear what He has to say. He will then give you an ear to hear the sigh of the weary and worn, and a tongue that will give the words that refresh.
Of course God cares about our physical needs and delights in teaching us ways to profit materially. But even that is to give us the means to bless others through greater generosity rather than build bigger barns only for ourselves.
Today's world is like yesterday's - corrupt and filled with the chorus of "Every person to his/her own god, own choice, own life-style." That's why we who know the Lord will not be popular and must be prepared to suffer when we declare: "There is only one God, one Savior and one way. The answer is not in Buddha, Confucius, Mohammed or any other man or supposed deity. Thus saith the Lord!"
