Today’s Message

March 10

"I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye."
Psalm 32:8

What peace of mind and rest of heart attend the way of the one who seeks only God's face and commits to only God's will. Such child-like trust and commitment bring the full fatherly nature of the Creator into action - instructing, teaching and guiding. That's why we're so foolish to step out even for a day just "winging it" and hoping things "turn out for the best." Such a life - even a Christian life - will be filled with lost motion and littered with the debris of wrong decisions that have blown up in our faces.

Look closely at the above promise. The Father wants to plan every one of your days and map out His way - not yours - for your steps. Then He wants to instruct you (specific orders), teach you (secret details) and guide you (His own special companionship) in doing His will for your life. Can this be true? The God of numberless galaxies and an immeasurable universe desiring to guide you with His personal touch? It's too good not to be true! Only the all-powerful, all-loving Creator could pull it off!

God loves you and me and He is determined to take us through earth's many dangers, toils and snares to heaven's delights, thrills and safety. To do this, He would rather guide us with His eye than grab us with bit and bridle (see verse 9). The one who is guided by the eye - that gentle glance - from the Lord of love, is obviously developing a more intimate daily walk with Him through the Word, meditation and prayer. The careless Christian, like the stubborn mule, must often by yanked back from destruction by a bit that causes pain. And that causes pain to the Father, rather than the pleasure He derives from those who seek His face and catch His eye.

My Prayer:

"Help me to see, my Father, how personal You long to be with me. Touch my heart so that I can respond in the same way to Thee."
